The Kostner family – tourism pioneers in Alta Badia

Home from an expedition to the Himalayas, Franz Kostner was the first to recognise the huge potential for tourism in the Val Badia valley at the start of the 20th century. In 1908 he acquired the Posta Zirm Hotel. In the 1930s he founded a private transport company that started bringing tourists to the valley. Between his many achievements, Franz Kostner was the one who built the first chair lift of Italy, the Col Alto, that comfortably lies just a few steps away from the Posta Zirm Hotel.

Over the years, our entire family has helped promoting the development of tourism and the preservation of the culture and customs of Alta Badia. We do so with enjoyment and a real love of our homeland. And this effort shows no signs of fading away at the Posta Zirm Hotel.
